About

The Motoring Organisations’ Land Access and Recreation Association (LARA) is an umbrella organisation and forum that brings together the leading national associations in motor sport and recreation. LARA promotes and advocates responsible and sustainable motor sport and recreation, and offers advice and training on all aspects of land use.

LARA was formed in June 1986, following pressure from within the ACU and RACMSA (now Motorsport UK) for greater involvement in political action and the formalised procedures associated with land use planning and statutory environmental management. For three decades LARA has assisted its member organisations in their own procedures and problems, acted as a unified voice to national and local government, and generally flown the flag for responsible motorsport and recreation in these increasingly restrictive times.

LARA does not organise events or act as any sort of governing body. If you want to know more about motor sport and recreation – how to take part, land access issues, planning problems, etc. – then either LARA or one of its member organisations probably has the answers you seek.
