Further extension to Monks Trod TTRO

Feb 22, 2025 | News

Powys County Council has advised LARA of a further extension of the temporary closure of byway LC296 Rhayader – the Monks Trod, which was due to expire on 1st March 2025.

The Council says that it proposes to use some of its allocation of UK Levelling Up funding to implement the Trans Cambrian cycle links project, which will include surface improvement work on the Monks Trod. Technical and environmental assessments are under way to inform the work, but these will not be complete before the current temporary closure expires. The Council therefore intends to extend the existing Order for a further six months, i.e. until 1 September 2025.

The conditions of the Order remain unchanged; subject to ground conditions, it will be possible to request permission to run an event under Regulation 5(c) of The Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) Regulations 1969 (also known as a ‘Road Safety Rally.’).
